What is the DSD program about?
The PADI Discover Scuba Diving Course conducted by Amazing Dive(5* Dive Centre) is an internationally recognised entry level Scuba Diving program fit for ages 12 and up. We offer 2 different packages- the Adventure Package and the Team Building Package.
DSD introduces people to scuba diving in a highly supervised and relaxed manner, and dispels common misconceptions about scuba by letting participants try it for themselves. This is an experience that is exciting, affordable, safe and accessible to just about anyone.
Do I need to know how to swim beforehand?
Yes, basic swimming skills are required. Participants do not need to be professional swimmers; simple water confidence would suffice.
How many people may participate?
With a pool of qualified PADI Open Water Diver Instructors and PADI Divemasters, AmazingDive is able to conduct the chosen DSD activity for 4 groups X 8 participants simultaneously (subject to location limitations) for schoold and organisations.
For individual divers, there are DSD sessions every weekend and there is no need to worry about the need to find a buddy; you’ll definitely have one in the pool.
Package 2-DSD TeamBuilding (2.5-3 hours)
The Ultimate Team Building Experience
The DSD-Teambuilding Package is about learning basic scuba skills as per the Adventure Package; then applying these to complete challenging team objectives in such a unique environment. This is a package suitable for schools and corporate groups.
Participants get to:
• Practice real skills such as regulator and mask clearing, sharing air, and control
• Use underwater communication techniques, signals, buddy practices
• Set up, assemble and understand their own set of scuba equipment and components
• Apply such skills in competitive, complex teambuilding games
The aim in this course is to let participants to adapt to and work as a team in a unique underwater environment. The unique environment creates various handicaps (communication, mobility, judgement, air supply). This forces the team to innovate on-the-fly solutions to overcome such challenges. As a course with very simple prerequisites (age and basic water confidence), this is an activity readily accessible and suitable for mature youths and corporate teams.
The curriculum is designed to allow:
• A hands-on approach to team problem solving, with visible results
• A self-rewarding, fulfilling and confidence-building experience
• Interaction between team members, emphasis on teamwork, communication, spontaneous decision making, judgement and coordination
While the activities follow a moderate learning curve, participants will be amazed at how far they have progressed in a short time as an individual and also as a team.
Each participant, upon completion of the program, will be awarded the PADI Discover Scuba Diving Certification. This credits towards the first internationally recognised certification to dive in an open sea environment- the PADI Open Water Diver Course.
Package 1-DSD Adventure (1.5-2 hours)
Accessible, Affordable, Safe and Exhilarating
The DSD-Adventure Package is all about having a mindblowing, first hand experience in using scuba equipment in a controlled, supervised environment.
Participants get to:
• Practice real skills such as regulator and mask clearing, sharing air, and control
• Use underwater communication techniques, signals, buddy practices
• Set up, assemble and understand their own set of scuba equipment and components
• Apply skills learned in simple games and underwater exploration exercises
The aim in this course is to maximise the fun and excitement of learning to use Scuba equipment for the first time. As a course with very simple prerequisites (age and basic water confidence), this is an activity readily accessible and suitable for youths and young adults.
The curriculum is designed to allow:
• A hands-on approach to problem solving, with visible results
• A self-rewarding, fulfilling and confidence-building experience
• Interaction between buddies, emphasis on teamwork, integrity of buddy system
While the activities follow a moderate learning curve, participants will be amazed at how far they have progressed in a short time.
Each participant, upon completion of the program, will be awarded the PADI Discover Scuba Diving Certification. This credits towards the first internationally recognised certification to dive in an open sea environment- the PADI Open Water Diver Course.
DSD Eco
An Ecological Adventure for Schools
Similar to the DSD-Teambuilding Package, DSD Eco carries a strong environmental theme to the teambuilding games played.
This is a special program suitable for schoolgoing students, combining the fun and adventure factor with a strong sense of empowerment that they can help save the reefs in a practical way with their newfound skills. Participants will, under guidance and supervision, build replicas of mooring structures, solve underwater puzzles, accomplish an underwater mission, etc. Special rates are available for schools.
